Cure Bowl coming to Orlando on December 19

Cure Bowl coming to Orlando on December 19  – The City of Orlando has signed a deal with the Orlando Sports Foundation to bring a third college football bowl game to the Citrus Bowl.  It is a five-year deal that will begin with the 2015 season and feature teams from the American Athletic Conference, the University of Central Florida’s current league, and the Sun Belt Conference.  Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is hailing the city for it’s unique status.

“We’ve talked about building these venues and being able to host any event that could possibly come to a city of our type, and here we are announcing a third bowl game,” said Dyer.  “There’s no city in America that hosts three college bowl games.”

The Citrus Bowl is currently undergoing a $200 million renovation which is expected to be complete by November.  The new game, called the Cure Bowl, will be played on December 19, before the Capital One and Russell Athletic bowls.

Mayor Dyer admits the game will not have the same level of teams that the other two bowl games in Orlando feature, but he still expects it to be attractive for fans.
